Belvedere combines the generous proportions of a Victorian home with the practical comforts of a well-equipped holiday apartment. High ceilings, period detailing, a large lounge and two genuine king bedrooms make it particularly comfortable for couples, friends and families.
The principal bedroom is centred on a four-poster king bed, while the second bedroom has a king-size sleigh bed. For a fifth guest, a Jay-Be folding single bed can be provided in the second bedroom. Please request it in advance; an additional £25 charge applies. A travel cot can also be provided by prior request for £10 per stay.
There is room to spend time together without feeling crowded — whether you are staying for a family holiday, a concert weekend, a Spa event or a quieter break by the coast.
Three sofas, tall windows, decorative cornicing, a statement fireplace and chandelier give the lounge a scale and character that is increasingly hard to find in holiday accommodation.
It works just as well for a family evening as it does for two couples sharing a break.
The generous kitchen/diner is equipped for much more than making tea and toast. There is a range cooker and hob, microwave, air fryer, rice cooker, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster and washing machine, together with everyday utensils and essentials.
The dining area seats four comfortably and can accommodate up to six more closely.
Belvedere sits on the South Cliff side of town — a particularly good starting point for discovering Scarborough's different faces: elegant gardens and the Spa, the traditional South Bay, the quieter North Bay, major live events, heritage and coastal walking.
Italian Gardens, South Cliff Gardens, the Esplanade, Spa and cliff walks form Belvedere's immediate setting.
From Belvedere: Leave by Crown Crescent Back Road and continue along Belmont Road to the Esplanade. Steps lead down towards Spa Bridge, while paths descend to Scarborough Spa and into the South Cliff Gardens and Italian Gardens.
The classic Scarborough experience: beach, harbour, foreshore, fishing boats, arcades and fish and chips.
From Belvedere: Ramshill Road is the quickest direct walking route towards the South Bay foreshore. For a more scenic approach, use the back route to the Esplanade and descend through the South Cliff and Spa area.
Peasholm Park, Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Alpamare Waterpark, SEA LIFE Scarborough and the North Bay Miniature Railway make this a very different side of Scarborough.
From Belvedere: For the quickest walk, cross Valley Bridge and continue through town towards Peasholm Park and North Bay. Alternatively follow the South Bay foreshore and continue around the harbour and headland — a longer, scenic route. Walking to North Bay and back makes an easy morning or afternoon excursion, with longer stays if you linger at the cafés or attractions.
The castle and headland add history, wide views and access to longer coastal walks.
From Belvedere: Head towards South Bay and the harbour, then climb towards the Castle headland. It combines naturally with a walk around the foreshore or onward towards North Bay.

North Bay has its own character and is especially useful for Peasholm Park, the Open Air Theatre and coastal walks.
The town's resort history remains visible in its cliff lifts, grand hotels, gardens and architecture.
Esplanade, Spa & gardens: leave by Crown Crescent Back Road and follow Belmont Road to the Esplanade. From the Belmont Road junction, steps descend towards Spa Bridge and paths lead down to the Spa itself and through the South Cliff Gardens.
Town centre: the same back route is also the quickest way into town on foot, using the steps from the Esplanade and crossing Spa Bridge.
South Bay: for the foreshore, Ramshill Road is generally the quickest direct route.
North Bay: cross Valley Bridge and continue through town towards Peasholm Park for the more direct walk; the South Bay foreshore and headland provide a longer scenic alternative.

Getting there: best treated as a car day from Belvedere; allow roughly 40-50 minutes depending on route and traffic. There is no practical direct public-transport service into the forest itself.
Why go: open moorland, heather, villages and broad views. It works best as a flexible exploring day rather than a single attraction.
Getting there: by car, head inland towards Pickering/Thornton-le-Dale for southern moorland or north towards Whitby for the eastern side. Choose one or two stops rather than trying to cover the whole National Park.
Why go: harbour, old town, the 199 Steps, abbey views, shops, pubs and a very different coastal atmosphere from Scarborough.
Getting there: about 20 miles by road; allow around 40-45 minutes by car in normal conditions. Direct bus services normally link Scarborough and Whitby; check the live timetable on the day.
Why go: a compact old fishing village with steep lanes, tightly packed houses and a beach at the bottom of the hill.
Getting there: roughly 30-35 minutes by car. Visitors normally park at the top of the village and walk down. Bus services on the Scarborough-Whitby corridor also serve the area; check current stopping arrangements.
Why go: this is one of the easiest days out from Belvedere because the National Trail passes through Scarborough. You can simply walk from the town rather than drive somewhere first.
Ideas: head north along the coast for North Bay and beyond, or walk south towards Filey. The Scarborough-to-Filey stretch is a substantial full walk, so match the distance to your party and plan the return journey in advance.
Why go: dramatic clifftop scenery, coastal walking and the remains of an ambitious Victorian resort development that never became the planned town.
Getting there: easiest by car; allow roughly 25-30 minutes from Belvedere. It also sits on the Cleveland Way, but walking there from Scarborough is a serious outing rather than a casual stroll.
Why go: steam and heritage trains through moorland scenery. Goathland is a particularly atmospheric station and the railway can be combined with Grosmont or Whitby depending on the timetable.
Getting there: by car, Goathland is roughly 35-45 minutes from Belvedere. Alternatively, make the railway itself the centre of the day by starting from one of its main stations. Check the day's timetable before setting off.
Why go: Filey offers a quieter contrast to Scarborough: a long sandy beach, traditional promenade, attractive town and the distinctive headland of Filey Brigg. It is also the southern end of the Cleveland Way.
Getting there: Filey is particularly easy from Belvedere. There is a direct rail link from Scarborough to Filey, making it a useful car-free day out; trains continue south towards Bridlington, Hull and beyond. Check the live timetable before travelling. By road it is a straightforward trip south on the A165.
On the way: between Scarborough and Filey, the Scarborough Fair Collection & Vintage Transport Museum at Lebberston Cliff houses historic fairground rides, steam engines, mechanical organs, vintage vehicles and motorcycles. Its collection includes 1893 Golden Galloping Horses, a caterpillar ride, ghost train, Cake Walk and other surviving fairground equipment. It can make a destination in its own right or be combined with Filey when opening times suit.

Normal check-in is from 3.00 pm and check-out is by 10.00 am. Belvedere is on the first floor and there is no lift. Detailed door and key-safe information is sent privately to confirmed guests.
There is no private parking. Belvedere supplies visitor parking permits for eligible on-street spaces in the local 3L area. Albion Crescent is usually the simplest place to look; Crown Crescent and parts of nearby streets provide alternatives. Always follow the permit instructions and street signs.
The principal bedroom has its own shower and washbasin. The family bathroom contains the apartment's WC, washbasin and freestanding bath. There is one WC in the apartment.
The rear kitchen door leads to the fire escape. Confirmed guests receive clear instructions for keeping the escape route available while the apartment is occupied.
The heating is activated and the base temperature is set for guests. You can adjust the room temperature using the guest controller in the apartment; the wall receiver and boiler controls should not be used.
Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are routinely provided. A bottle of wine is normally added for longer stays.
The map helps orientate guests around Albion Crescent and Crown Crescent. It is a guide only: current road signs and permit conditions always take precedence.

Direct bookings are confirmed in writing, include a £250 refundable security deposit, and are subject to Belvedere's direct-booking terms. A Jay-Be folding fifth bed can be pre-booked for £25, and a travel cot for £10. Cancellation charges are set out clearly and increase as arrival approaches, but are reduced where re-letting or saved costs reduce Belvedere's actual loss. Platform bookings continue to use the relevant platform's payment, cancellation and damage arrangements.
